​Thank you for joining the Knowledge Centre, Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF)'s online community for the philanthropic sector, researchers, experts, policy-makers, practitioners, and other community development stakeholders to discuss and share resources and best practices related to their fields of practice.

This is an Agreement between you and OTF that describes your rights and obligations as a Knowledge Centre Community Member. By creating your Knowledge Centre Account, you agree to abide by this Agreement. The terms below provide a framework to ensure that Community Members have a great experience and feel safe and respected during their interactions with others via Knowledge Centre. OTF reserves the right to amend this Agreement at its own discretion. Notification of any significant amendment(s) will be posted on the Knowledge Centre.

CODE OF CONDUCT

  1. Content submitted to Knowledge Centre is not pre-moderated by OTF, which means your comments will be displayed on the site immediately. Submitted content is regularly reviewed by OTF for relevance and for compliance with the following Code of Conduct. Engaging in any of the activities forbidden by our Code of Conduct will result in OTF removing all offending Content and the closing of your Account without notice. 

    The success of the Knowledge Centre community depends on everyone's commitment to positive, enriching engagement. As such, for all comments and submissions, you may not post: 

    • Racist, sexist, homophobic or otherwise offensive language or statements

    • Personal attacks and defamatory statements against anyone

    • Any material commonly considered offensive such as imagery of a sexual nature

    • Content that is not yours without attribution to the original content owner

    • Content that violates someone else's privacy

    • Solicitations for personal information from other Community Members

    • Threats or suggestions of committing criminal acts

    • Commercial promotions, promotions of your own business, or commercial interests 

  2. In addition, please avoid posting specific questions or comments about your OTF grant application, the administration of your OTF grant, or a declined OTF grant. For any and all questions about an OTF grant application, grant status, grant decision or otherwise, contact our Support Centre directly at otf@otf.ca or 1.800.263.2887 for assistance.

PRIVACY

  1. OTF asks for a minimum of information to create your Knowledge Centre Account. We use the information you provide for your Knowledge Centre Account for the purposes of administering your Account only. We do not share or sell this information to any other organization without your prior consent.

  2. OTF's authority for collecting personal information is for the proper administration of the Knowledge Centre.

  3. In order to measure the quality of Community Members' experience using the Knowledge Centre, an external service provider may contact randomly selected Community Members for a survey. Participation in surveys is completely voluntary. By accepting these terms and conditions you consent to the disclosure of your personal information for survey purposes.

  4. OTF does reserve the right to perform aggregate statistical analysis of user behaviour and characteristics, in order to measure the success and impact of the Knowledge Centre.

  5. OTF reserves the right to contact you occasionally via email for any matter relating to the administration of Knowledge Centre or any other OTF business.

  6.  Under the conditions of the Ontario Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, OTF may be legally required to release your personal information under these such circumstances:

    • Complying with a subpoena or warrant issued or order made by a court, person or body with jurisdiction to compel the production of information or for the purpose of complying with rules of court relating to the production of information;

    • To an investigative body specified in the regulations for the purpose of enforcing any laws or carrying out a lawful investigation;

    • To the Archives of Ontario for archival purposes.

CONTENT

  1. Knowledge Centre enables members of the public to communicate with others and share various types of content, such as comments, files, photos, documents and videos. You are responsible for any content that you post. OTF does not claim ownership of the content you post; we do not endorse it, nor are we otherwise responsible for the functioning or nature of the content that you share on Knowledge Centre.

  2. The general public has access to view any content that you post on Knowledge Centre. By posting content on Knowledge Centre, you agree that it will be viewable by the general public.

  3. Knowledge Centre also enables OTF staff to post various types of OTF-branded content, such as files, photos, documents and videos. OTF owns this content; we are responsible for it, and it is protected under Canadian and international copyright law. We encourage you to share links to OTF-branded content as it is provided on Knowledge Centre. You may not reproduce, alter, modify or redistribute any OTF-branded content without express permission from OTF, except for files provided on our Open Data portal which are made available to you under the Government of Ontario's Open Data license. Under this license, you may copy, modify, publish, translate, adapt, distribute or otherwise use the data in any medium, mode or format in any lawful way.   4. Knowledge Centre includes links to external websites. These links are provided for your convenience only. OTF is not responsible for the availability or content of these other websites or any products or services available from them. You should be aware that your use of such other websites may be subject to additional Terms imposed by the owners of those websites. Your dealings with such third parties are between you and the third party, and OTF accepts no liability as a result of you accessing such websites.

 SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

From time to time, OTF will perform system upgrades and maintenance which may involve a temporary service outage. OTF will notify Community Members in advance of these service outages wherever possible.

LIMITED LIABILITY

OTF accepts no responsibility for any loss or harm incurred from the use of Knowledge Centre or any of its Content.
